Lanka Premier League 2026 squads and captains
The Lanka Premier League 2026 squad archive contains 105 documented season names across five teams. The cards preserve the official team-directory lists, approved replacements and later scorecard participants as separate roster states, so the total is not presented as 105 players registered simultaneously.
Five teams · 105 documented names
What is included in the LPL 2026 squad directory?
Each team card begins with the official LPL Season 6 directory, then retains only additions supported by an approved replacement report, a completed scorecard or a current team roster. The result is a season timeline rather than five fixed playing XIs or a claim that every name was available on the same day.
Colombo's 20 names match its final official directory. Dambulla expands from 18 to 20 documented names, Galle from 20 to 21, Jaffna from 19 to 21 and Kandy from 20 to 23 because their later roster evidence does not fit one static announcement.

Colombo Kaps
20 playersCaptain: Kusal Mendis; Kamindu Mendis after injury
The final LPL team directory lists 20 players: 13 local and seven overseas. It reflects the playing group after Rubin Hermann and Ravindu Fernando entered the official squad, rather than relying on an older pre-tournament list.

Dambulla Sixers
20 playersCaptain: Dinesh Chandimal
The LPL directory lists an 18-player squad. The completed scorecards also document Sikandar Raza and Sonal Dinusha in the season group, so both are retained rather than silently omitted. Display spellings are normalized to the names used on official match reports and scorecards.

Galle Gallants
21 playersCaptain: Dasun Shanaka
The official LPL directory names 20 players: 13 Sri Lankan and seven overseas players. Completed scorecards also document Thomas Fraser Rogers later in the campaign, including the final. No official transaction notice was found that identifies him as a replacement, so this page calls him a documented participant rather than inventing a roster mechanism; the 21 names are not presented as simultaneous registrations.

Jaffna Kings
21 playersCaptain: Bhanuka Rajapaksa
The official LPL directory lists 19 players. Towhid Hridoy then replaced unavailable Taskin Ahmed with committee approval, while completed scorecards document Khawaja Nafay in three matches. The 21-name timeline keeps the original registration, approved replacement and actual participant together without labelling all 21 as a single-date squad.

Kandy Royals
23 playersCaptain: Angelo Mathews
The official LPL directory lists 20 players. Completed scorecards also record Pawan Sandesh and Iftikhar Ahmed, while the club's own squad page retains Daniel Sams. This 23-name timeline preserves the published roster and participation trail; it does not claim all 23 were registered together on one date.

Season-specific leadership
Who captained the five LPL teams in 2026?
Dinesh Chandimal led Dambulla Sixers, Dasun Shanaka led Galle Gallants, Bhanuka Rajapaksa led Jaffna Kings and Angelo Mathews led Kandy Royals. The official directory identifies those four captains directly.
Colombo requires a timeline rather than one undated label. Kusal Mendis began as captain, suffered a right-hamstring injury during the 19 July match against Kandy, and Kamindu Mendis led the remaining eight matches, including both playoffs.
| Team | 2026 captain record | Directory vice-captain |
|---|---|---|
| Colombo Kaps | Kusal Mendis; Kamindu Mendis after injury | Kamindu Mendis |
| Dambulla Sixers | Dinesh Chandimal | Dushmantha Chameera |
| Galle Gallants | Dasun Shanaka | Charith Asalanka |
| Jaffna Kings | Bhanuka Rajapaksa | Dunith Wellalage |
| Kandy Royals | Angelo Mathews | Wanindu Hasaranga |
Official list plus dated changes
Why do four team cards exceed the official directory count?
Dambulla's official directory has 18 names; completed scorecards add Sonal Dinusha and Sikandar Raza, while a dated release identifies Raza as the injury replacement for Marques Ackerman. Galle's 20-player directory is supplemented by Thomas Fraser Rogers, whose completed scorecard appearances establish participation but not a published replacement mechanism.
Jaffna's 19-player directory includes Taskin Ahmed; Towhid Hridoy was later approved as his replacement, and Khawaja Nafay appeared in three matches. Kandy's 20-player directory is joined by scorecard participants Pawan Sandesh and Iftikhar Ahmed plus Daniel Sams from the club roster. These layers explain the larger season totals without treating outgoing and incoming names as simultaneous registrations.
| Team | Official directory | Added documented trail | Season names |
|---|---|---|---|
| Colombo Kaps | 20 | Final directory already reconciled | 20 |
| Dambulla Sixers | 18 | Sonal Dinusha; Sikandar Raza | 20 |
| Galle Gallants | 20 | Thomas Fraser Rogers | 21 |
| Jaffna Kings | 19 | Towhid Hridoy; Khawaja Nafay | 21 |
| Kandy Royals | 20 | Pawan Sandesh; Iftikhar Ahmed; Daniel Sams | 23 |
Roster listing is not a match played
Does every name have an LPL 2026 appearance?
No. The directory answers who was named in a team record during the season; a scorecard answers who participated in a particular match. Taskin Ahmed, for example, remains part of Jaffna's published roster history even though the approved replacement notice says he was unavailable to join.
The competition also used an Impact Player substitution, so a scorecard can record 12 contributors without 12 players taking the field together. Match-by-match selection, innings and statistics should therefore be read from the result archive and scorecards, not inferred from these squad cards.
