Galle Gallants 2026 Squad, Results & LPL Stats

Galle Gallants are the Galle-based Lanka Premier League franchise operated by Gallant Sports and Media LLC. The Gallants name arrived for 2026 after the same city slot had competed as Galle Gladiators, Galle Titans and Galle Marvels; ownership under the new identity should not be projected backward onto those earlier teams.

They finished second in the 2026 league table with five wins, three losses, 10 points and a +0.604 net run rate. After losing Qualifier 1 to Jaffna Kings, Galle beat Colombo Kaps in Qualifier 2 and then chased 124 against Jaffna in the final to win by five wickets.

Sam Harper led the champions with 425 runs and Charith Asalanka made 385. Eshan Malinga took a tournament-high 17 wickets for Galle, Akif Javed collected 15, and Chamika Karunaratne supplied the leading all-round batting return with 253 runs and one wicket.

The official LPL team directory lists 20 Galle Gallants players: 13 Sri Lankan and seven overseas. Completed match scorecards later document Thomas Fraser Rogers in Galle's campaign, including the final, which expands the page's participant group to 21 names.

An appearance proves participation, but it does not reveal the registration route. Because no official LPL or club transaction notice was found explaining Rogers' addition, this page does not label him a replacement or guess whom he replaced.

The distinction matters when comparing sources. The official directory answers who was announced in the squad; the completed scorecards answer who actually appeared during the title run. Neither source alone describes the full season group.

LPL 2026 used an Impact Player substitution, so a match record can contain 12 Galle contributors without 12 players taking the field at the same time. In the opener, Eshan Malinga replaced Lasith Croospulle and took 4/26 as Galle defended 213.

The next day against Colombo, the direction changed: the official match report says Eshan made way for Lasith during the chase. That is why counting names from a scorecard is not always the same as counting a conventional playing XI.

It also explains why squad membership, match selection and an appearance are different data points. The page counts documented participants across the season, while each result preserves the match's published score rather than forcing every contributor into an eleven-player model.

Galle scored 213/6 and dismissed Jaffna Kings for 177 to win by 36 runs. The official LPL match report gives that order and result, and it is the version used in this page's results table.

The official Galle team homepage currently places the two score labels in the opposite order on its schedule card while still stating that Galle won by 36 runs. Reading that card literally would make the result impossible, so the full official match report resolves the display error.

Some secondary scorecards also retain the former Galle Marvels label for early 2026 games. Official LPL and club sources identify the 2026 entrant as Galle Gallants, so the legacy label is treated as a data-display carry-over, not a separate team.

Galle lost Qualifier 1 after Jaffna made 242/2 and restricted them to 228/8, a 14-run defeat. The Gallants then took the longer route, beating Colombo Kaps by six wickets in Qualifier 2 to earn a second match against Jaffna.

The final reversed the contest through bowling rather than a bigger Galle total. Jaffna fell from 242/2 in Qualifier 1 to 123 all out in the final; Galle then reached 126/5 in 15.5 overs and won with 25 balls remaining.

That three-match sequence is why the league table and the trophy answer different questions. Galle finished second at 5–3, went 2–1 in the playoffs and became champion with a 7–4 overall record.

They are successive names in the LPL's Galle city-franchise lineage, but they are not interchangeable labels for every season. Galle competed as Gladiators from 2020 to 2022, Titans in 2023, Marvels in 2024 and Gallants in 2026.

The 2026 trophy is therefore the first title in the Galle city lineage and the first won under the Gallants name. Earlier finals and playoff finishes remain attached to the name used in that season.

Gallant Sports and Media LLC is the current Gallants operator. This page does not project that ownership backward onto predecessor teams, and it keeps current-season player statistics separate from the historical lineage.
