Dambulla Sixers 2026 Squad, Results, Stats & History

Dambulla Sixers are the current Dambulla franchise in the Lanka Premier League. DeSilva Holdings retained ownership for Season 6, keeping continuity after the Sixers name debuted in 2024.

Dambulla finished fifth in LPL 2026 with two wins, five losses, one no-result and five points. They beat Kandy Royals by 18 runs and Galle Gallants by six wickets, but four straight defeats followed before rain ended their final match against Jaffna Kings.

The completed record was one point better than 2024 but again outside the playoffs. The wider Dambulla franchise reached the 2023 final as Dambulla Aura; the current Sixers identity has not yet won the LPL.

The LPL team directory lists 18 Dambulla Sixers players: 11 local and seven overseas. That page is the baseline squad list, but it is not a complete record of every player who represented Dambulla later in the tournament.

Sonal Dinusha and Sikandar Raza both appear in Dambulla's Match 17 group against Colombo Kaps, taking the documented season group to 20. A later LPL-confirmed release identifies Raza as the replacement for Marques Ackerman, who was ruled out with an injury.

The squad grid therefore keeps the 18 directory names and adds the two documented participants. It does not remove Ackerman after his injury because he had already represented and scored runs for Dambulla before Raza replaced him.

Dambulla completed 20 overs and made 203/8 against Jaffna Kings on 2 August, but rain prevented Jaffna from beginning the chase. The match was recorded as a no-result, not a Dambulla win.

A first-innings lead cannot decide a T20 match when the chasing side has not received the minimum play required for a result. Dambulla and Jaffna received one league point each, so the abandoned chase supplied Dambulla's fifth point.

The 203/8 remains Dambulla's highest total of the season and belongs in their batting record. It does not belong in the wins column: their completed table line was two wins, five losses and one no-result from eight matches.

No. Dambulla Thunders was announced before LPL 2024, but the league terminated that franchise contract on 22 May, before the tournament began. Sri Lanka Cricket then confirmed new ownership and the Dambulla Sixers name on 5 June.

The side that entered the 2024 tournament was Dambulla Sixers, operated under DeSilva Holdings. The Thunders name belongs to the pre-season ownership timeline and should not receive a separate match record, captain or final table position.

Earlier playing identities—Dambulla Viiking, Dambulla Giants and Dambulla Aura—do have completed-season records. The 2023 runners-up finish belongs to Aura; the current Sixers identity covers the completed 2024 and 2026 seasons.

The no-result point lifted Dambulla to five points, but it did not put them into the playoffs. Fourth-placed Kandy Royals finished on six points from three wins, while Dambulla had two wins, five losses and the rain point.

That one-point gap is important because net run rate did not decide fourth place. Even though Dambulla's -0.565 NRR was slightly better than Kandy's -0.567, Kandy qualified on the higher points total.

The abandoned Jaffna match therefore improved Dambulla's final total without reversing the table order. Treating the tiny NRR difference as the reason for elimination would read the standings in the wrong sequence.

Dambulla were 2-2 after four matches, with wins over Kandy and Galle. They did not win again: three consecutive defeats followed before the rain-affected no-result against Jaffna closed the season.

The losing run included a 21-run defeat to Colombo, a 44-run defeat to Galle and a four-wicket defeat to Colombo. Those results left Dambulla dependent on the final round while Kandy already held the extra win that became decisive.

The match order shows a clear result pattern, but it does not prove a single tactical cause. The defensible conclusion is that a balanced 2-2 start became a 0-3-1 finish, leaving Dambulla one point outside the top four.
