Competition overview
BBL|16 opens on 12 December with Melbourne Renegades hosting defending champions Perth Scorchers at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the competition’s first match outside Australia. The Australian leg begins at the Gabba on 15 December.
The regular season contains 40 matches, ten per team, and finishes with double-headers on 16 and 17 January. The top four then contest the Qualifier, Knockout, Challenger and Final, with host venues determined by league-stage positions.
Cricket Australia confirms all 44 matches on Foxtel and Kayo Sports. Seven and 7plus will show 30 regular-season games and all four finals; the schedule also includes Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day fixtures.
