Sydney Sixers at a glance
Sydney Sixers were founded in 2011 as one of the Big Bash League's original eight franchises. Cricket NSW operates the club, whose men's side plays in magenta and is based at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The Sixers finished second in the BBL|15 league stage at 6–3 with one no-result, 13 points and net run rate +0.605. They lost the Qualifier in Perth, beat Hobart by 57 runs in the Challenger and returned to Perth for a six-wicket Final defeat, finishing 7–5 with one no-result overall.
Steve Smith led the completed campaign with 299 runs despite limited availability. Jack Edwards took a team-high 19 wickets, while club player of the tournament Joel Davies contributed 135 runs at strike rate 159.30 and 14 wickets at an average of 13.35.
