Melbourne Renegades Team: Squad, Results, Stats & Schedule

Melbourne Renegades are Victoria's red men's Big Bash League team. They entered the competition in 2011/12 and are distinct from Melbourne Renegades Women, whose WBBL squad and results are not mixed into this record. Cricket Victoria retains the licence while the men's team operates independently for BBL|16 ahead of a proposed sale.

The Renegades won their only men's championship in BBL|08, defeating Melbourne Stars in the 2019 final. They were BBL|02 minor premiers and have reached the finals in BBL|02, BBL|07, BBL|08 and BBL|12.

BBL|15 ended in seventh place with three wins, seven losses, six points and a -1.202 net run rate. Josh Brown scored a team-high 311 runs and won the club player-of-the-season award; Gurinder Sandhu led the bowling with 18 wickets.

BBL|16 begins on 12 December 2026 against Perth Scorchers in Chennai, the first Big Bash match staged outside Australia. Luke Ronchi is the new head coach, Will Sutherland remains captain and the MCG becomes the team's primary home venue.

The nine names are the club's current BBL|16 contracted core. The older 22-name record combined BBL|15 contracts, later registrations and replacement players, so carrying it forward would make expired deals look current.

The Renegades have five designated home games: the Chennai opener, two at Junction Oval and two at the MCG. They also play an away derby at the MCG on 4 January, so the team appears there three times but hosts only two of them.

Wins over the Stars and Scorchers lifted the Renegades to 3–3, but they lost the final four matches. Those defeats came against the Stars, Thunder, Scorchers and Strikers, with the last two decided by 50 runs and eight wickets.

The sequence matters more than the final place alone: a possible recovery ended in a four-game slide, including a DLS-adjusted chase against Sydney Thunder. It explains why seventh place followed a mid-season 3–3 record without inventing a single cause.

No completed sale is stated in the current official material. Cricket Australia says the Renegades will be operated independently from Cricket Victoria's Junction Oval headquarters during BBL|16 ahead of the state body's intended sale of the licence.
