WPL 2026 squads and captains

The WPL 2026 squad record contains 86 sourced names across five teams. The source states are not identical: Delhi Capitals published an opening squad, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru published post-auction squads, Gujarat Giants has a final post-replacement directory, and UP Warriorz has a complete registration timeline.

Five sourced team records

What is included in the WPL 2026 squad directory?

The five cards reproduce team-specific 2026 names from official franchise or competition records. The 86-entry total describes the published records on this page; it is not a claim that all 86 players were active at the same time.

Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru share franchise names with men's IPL teams. Their WPL cards therefore use explicit women's squad records instead of collecting every player attached to the shared franchise slug.

Season leadership

Who captained the five WPL teams in 2026?

Jemimah Rodrigues led Delhi Capitals, Ashleigh Gardner led Gujarat Giants, Harmanpreet Kaur led Mumbai Indians, Smriti Mandhana led Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Meg Lanning led UP Warriorz.

These labels belong to the completed 2026 season. A later retention, trade or appointment does not silently change this captain directory.

Roster changes preserved

How are WPL 2026 replacements handled?

Gujarat's final directory lists Jintimani Kalita after she replaced Titas Sadhu, so Sadhu is not counted in the 18-player final snapshot. UP Warriorz is intentionally different: its card preserves the complete registration timeline, including Tara Norris and replacement Charli Knott, then Phoebe Litchfield and replacement Amy Jones.

Those labels prevent an auction squad, an opening group and a post-replacement directory from being presented as if they were the same data state. A later official correction can update the affected card without rewriting the other four teams.

Registration is not selection

Does a WPL squad listing prove a player appeared?

No. A squad record establishes registration or team publication status, while an appearance requires a completed match scorecard. Withdrawn or injured players can remain part of the season's registration history without appearing in every match or remaining active through the Final.

The statistics page uses completed scorecards for runs and wickets. It does not assign an appearance merely because a player's name is present in one of these squad records.
