What changed in the 2026 Vitality Blast format?
The men's competition replaced the previous two-group schedule with North, South and Central and West groups of six. Each county played its five regional opponents home and away plus two cross-group fixtures, giving every team 12 league matches.
The top two in each group and the best two third-placed counties advanced. The quarter-finals followed immediately after the 12 July group finale, and Finals Day moved into July so the complete season ran in one concentrated block before The Hundred.
Nine wins and two completed ties
How did the group stage shape qualification?
Northamptonshire set the strongest pace, winning their first eight matches and finishing 9–3 for 36 points. Hampshire and Notts each won eight to lead the other groups, while the two available third-place spots went to Essex and Gloucestershire on 28 points.
The only tied matches were Derbyshire–Yorkshire on 28 June and Lancashire–Derbyshire on 6 July. Those results mattered in the North table: Yorkshire received one tie entry, Lancashire one and Derbyshire two, with no no-results across the season.

In the Final, Northamptonshire posted 169 and bowled Hampshire out for 155. The title match completed a seven-game knockout sequence in which all four quarter-finals and all three Finals Day contests produced outright winners.
