What is the latest BBL|16 news?
Cricket Australia’s 26 July list tracker records 79 confirmed BBL|16 contracts. Sydney Sixers made the only two completed moves in the second post-season window, adding Ollie Davies from Sydney Thunder and Fergus O’Neill from Melbourne Renegades.
BBL|16 remains an upcoming season. The official series record has 44 scheduled matches and no completed result, current standing or player statistic at this cutoff.

Cricket Australia listed 79 confirmed contracts across eight clubs. Sydney Sixers had added Ollie Davies and Fergus O’Neill, while Sam Billings remained the only direct overseas player already contracted in the tracker.

Which BBL|16 updates changed the team lists?
Sydney Sixers added Ollie Davies and Fergus O’Neill during the second post-season player-movement window. The current tracker therefore lists Davies with the Sixers rather than Thunder and O’Neill with the Sixers rather than Renegades.
The eight clubs are still building toward 18-player lists after the contracting embargo. The current cards contain 79 confirmed players and exclude uncontracted BBL|15 players and possible overseas targets until a club announces a new agreement.

Which BBL teams changed head coach?
Brisbane Heat appointed James Hopes, Melbourne Renegades appointed Luke Ronchi, Melbourne Stars appointed Cameron White, Sydney Sixers appointed Matthew Mott and Sydney Thunder appointed Andrew Flintoff. Cricket Australia’s squad tracker identifies those as the five new head coaches for BBL|16.
Adelaide Strikers list Tim Paine, Hobart Hurricanes list Jeff Vaughan and Perth Scorchers list Adam Voges. Coaching appointments are kept separate from captaincy: Sydney Sixers had not named a replacement captain for Henriques at this cutoff.
New venue and playing rule
What changed for the BBL 2026–27 season?
BBL|16 begins with the competition’s first league match outside Australia, Renegades versus defending champions Perth Scorchers in Chennai. The Australian leg starts three days later, Christmas Eve cricket returns, and the Final is scheduled for 26 January.
The optional designated-batter rule also begins in BBL|16. Each club must declare its match choice before the bat flip, and this page will wait for that declaration instead of predicting an XI.
No results before first ball
When will BBL|16 match news and results begin?
Result coverage begins only after the Renegades–Scorchers opener is completed on 12 December. Until then, coaching, contracts, availability, rules and schedule announcements remain separate from match performance.
A future result entry will use a completed official scorecard and identify the teams, margin and season scope. Live innings fragments, promotional posts and unsupported transfer claims will not be presented as final match news.
