BBL|16 2026–27 schedule and fixtures

Each of the eight teams plays ten league matches between 12 December and 17 January. The top four then enter a four-match finals series, with the title decided on the Australia Day public holiday on 26 January.

The official calendar includes six double-headers and nightly Big Bash cricket from the 15 December Australian opener through 17 January except Christmas Day. All 44 rows remain scheduled fixtures at the 17 August cutoff.

Melbourne Renegades host Perth Scorchers at MA Chidambaram Stadium on 12 December at 14:40 IST. Cricket Australia describes it as the first Big Bash League match played outside Australia.

The fixture follows day four of the New Zealand–Australia Test in Chennai. It is one official BBL league match, not an exhibition, and its result will count in the same BBL|16 standings as the 39 Australian league fixtures.

Melbourne Renegades host Hobart Hurricanes under lights at Junction Oval on Christmas Eve, the first BBL fixture on 24 December in four years. Boxing Day has Sixers–Heat at the SCG followed by Scorchers–Stars at Optus Stadium.

Adelaide Strikers host Melbourne Stars in the annual New Year’s Eve match. New Year’s Day brings Renegades–Sixers at the MCG and Heat–Hurricanes at the Gabba, both shown in their venue-local start times below.

Sydney Thunder host Sydney Sixers at ENGIE Stadium on 19 December, and the reverse Sydney Smash is at the SCG on 15 January. Those fixtures bookend the BBL|16 regular-season matches played in Sydney.

Both Melbourne derbies are at the MCG: Stars host Renegades on 4 January, then Renegades host the reverse fixture on 16 January. Canberra also receives three home-designated matches, the most in a non-bubble BBL season.

The top four enter the unchanged four-game finals format: the Qualifier on 19 January, Knockout on 20 January, Challenger on 23 January and Final on 26 January. Cricket Australia has also set aside a reserve day for the Final.

All four team and venue fields remain TBC because qualification and hosting depend on league-stage positions. No club or ground is assigned to those rows before the completed standings establish the participants.

The Chennai opener is displayed in India Standard Time. Every named Australian league fixture is displayed in its ground’s local time, including the different summer offsets used in Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.

The four official finals records currently correspond to 19:30 AEDT. Because their host grounds remain TBC, that is an Australian Eastern Daylight Time reference; each row will be reconciled to venue-local time when the qualifying host is known.

No. All 44 rows remain upcoming at the 17 August cutoff. Perth Scorchers’ BBL|15 title makes them defending champions, but it does not create a BBL|16 result, point or player statistic.

After play begins, a result will enter the schedule only from a completed official match record. Current-season standings and player leaderboards will start from BBL|16 data rather than zero-filled or previous-season totals.
