Second place decided on NRR

Why did Biratnagar finish above Kathmandu Gorkhas?

Biratnagar Kings and Kathmandu Gorkhas both won five matches, lost two and collected 10 points. Biratnagar's +0.680 net run rate placed them second, ahead of Kathmandu's +0.537.

The order gave Biratnagar a place in Qualifier 1 and sent Kathmandu to the Eliminator. Biratnagar had also won their league meeting by five wickets, but the final table records NRR as the visible separator between the equal points totals.

How did the NPL playoff qualification system work?

First-placed Sudur Paschim and second-placed Biratnagar entered Qualifier 1, whose winner advanced directly to the Final. Third-placed Kathmandu and fourth-placed Lumbini entered the Eliminator, with its winner moving to Qualifier 2.

Sudur Paschim won Qualifier 1. Lumbini then survived both elimination matches to reach the Final, so fourth place remained sufficient for a championship route even though it offered no second chance.

Sixth place also decided on NRR

Why did Karnali Yaks finish above Chitwan Rhinos?

Karnali Yaks and Chitwan Rhinos both finished 2–5 for four points. Karnali's −0.356 NRR was better than Chitwan's −0.611, placing the Yaks sixth and the Rhinos seventh.

Karnali ended the league stage with a three-run win over Janakpur Bolts, while Chitwan had already completed its schedule. Neither team qualified, so the NRR order settled the final positions without creating another match.

League position and title are different records

How could fourth-placed Lumbini Lions become champions?

The points table ranked only the 28-match league stage. Lumbini's four wins and eight points put them fourth, which secured an Eliminator place rather than the championship itself.

Lumbini then beat Kathmandu, Biratnagar and Sudur Paschim in three consecutive playoff matches. Those results made them champions but did not add six points or move them to first in the completed league table.

What is included in the NPL 2025 points table?

The table contains seven league matches per team and 28 league matches overall. Played, wins, losses, NRR and points come from the final 2025 standings and reconcile to the completed result archive.

Qualifier 1, the Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the Final are excluded from table totals. Later seasons, roster changes and the 2026 NPL state do not alter this dated league-stage record.
