Tiaan van Vuuren all-round role
Current official sources agree that van Vuuren bats right-handed and bowls left-arm pace. Cricket South Africa's Knights directory calls him a middle-order batter and left-arm medium-pacer, the SA20 profile records left-arm fast, and MI Cape Town describes a tall left-arm quick who swings the new ball. The minor pace-label variation does not change the central fact that he is a left-arm seamer.
His longer-format numbers support the all-rounder label. Across first-class and List A cricket at the cutoff, he had 121 wickets and 1,109 runs when the two non-overlapping format rows are viewed together. That combined figure is useful only as a broad workload summary; it is not a new official career category, and the first-class and List A records remain separate in the table.
Bowling is the stronger discipline. The first-class and List A bowling averages were 26.07 and 25.57, while the corresponding batting averages were 24.25 and 23.80. Averages cannot be compared as if they use the same scale—lower is better for bowling and higher for batting—but each pair shows regular involvement rather than a decorative secondary skill.
T20 cricket is the exception at this cutoff. Eleven wickets at 67.00 and 197 runs at 16.41 show that neither discipline had produced the same return in the shortest format. MI Cape Town can still select him for role fit, development or specific conditions, but the existing T20 record should not be described as proven SA20 dominance.
