David Miller Career Stats, Records and 2026 Contracts

Who is David Miller?

David Andrew Miller is a South African international batter best known for controlling the last phase of limited-overs innings. He bats left-handed, is listed as an off-break bowler and has occasionally kept wicket, but his durable role is middle-order batter and finisher. His career spans international cricket, the IPL, SA20, The Hundred and other franchise competitions.

Delhi Capitals, Paarl Royals and Southern Brave are parts of the same career, while each innings stays attached to its competition. That prevents overlapping team listings from becoming conflicting biographies and keeps contract values tied to their named season and source.

David Miller age, full name and playing style

Miller was born on 10 June 1989 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. His full name is David Andrew Miller, and he was 37 years old on 11 August 2026. ICC and Delhi Capitals sources agree on his date of birth, left-handed batting and off-break bowling classification.

The label finisher describes his job rather than a separate official role. Miller often arrives after the Powerplay, assesses the remaining overs and chooses when to attack pace or spin. His high proportion of not-outs in T20 cricket matters because a successful chase may require both boundary power and the discipline to remain at the crease.

Early career and South Africa debut

Miller developed through KwaZulu-Natal and Dolphins cricket. He made his first-class debut in January 2008 and entered South Africa's limited-overs teams in the Caribbean in May 2010. His T20I debut came on 20 May against West Indies, followed by his ODI debut two days later.

He did not play Test cricket and later retired from first-class cricket in 2018 to focus on limited-overs opportunities. That decision should not be read as an international retirement: his checked career continued in white-ball internationals through the 2026 T20 World Cup cycle. The distinction matters whenever a player steps away from one format but remains available in others.

David Miller ODI career

Miller's checked ODI record through 5 March 2025 is 178 matches, 4,611 runs, an average of 42.30 and a strike rate of 103.69. He has seven ODI hundreds, 24 fifties and a high score of 139 against Australia. Those totals combine long-term accumulation with a scoring rate above a run a ball.

His ODI value has often appeared most clearly in tournament pressure. He can rebuild after early wickets, but he can also accelerate late without abandoning the innings. The 2015, 2023 and 2025 global events each supplied a different example: a record partnership, a World Cup semi-final rescue and a Champions Trophy semi-final hundred.

The 45 not-outs in his ODI ledger also need context. They do not mean every innings was a successful chase, but they help explain why his average is materially higher than a simple runs-per-innings calculation. For readers comparing players, the page keeps matches, innings, not-outs, average and strike rate together instead of selecting only the most flattering number.

2015 World Cup partnership with JP Duminy

Against Zimbabwe at Hamilton in the 2015 World Cup, South Africa were 83 for four before Miller and JP Duminy changed the match. Their unbeaten 256-run fifth-wicket partnership carried the total to 339 for four. Miller finished 138 not out and Duminy 115 not out.

The partnership was a World Cup record for the fifth wicket and demonstrated why Miller cannot be reduced to late hitting alone. Miller and Duminy scored 146 runs in the final ten overs, lifting South Africa from 193/4 to 339/4. A total of 96 came from the last five overs.

Miller took 30 from Solomon Mire's 48th over with the sequence six, four, four, six, four and six. The over explains how a recovery innings became a decisive finish: Miller had already built his century before attacking every delivery and completing an unbeaten 138 from 92 balls.

35-ball T20I century against Bangladesh

Miller made a 35-ball T20I hundred against Bangladesh at Potchefstroom on 29 October 2017 and finished unbeaten on 101 from 36 balls. At the time it was the fastest century in men's T20 internationals. Later performances elsewhere changed the global record, so the achievement needs its historical date rather than an undated present-tense claim.

The innings still stands as a defining South African T20 performance. It showed his reach against length bowling, his ability to score around the ground and the speed with which a controlled innings can become overwhelming. His broader checked T20I record is 2,804 runs from 140 matches at a strike rate of 141.40.

2023 World Cup semi-final century

South Africa slipped to 24 for four against Australia in the 2023 World Cup semi-final at Kolkata. Miller responded with 101 from 116 balls, carrying the innings to 212 when conditions and the match situation made scoring difficult. Australia won by three wickets, but Miller's century gave South Africa a defendable total.

The innings was not a conventional death-overs cameo. It required patience, strike management and calculated counterattack while wickets continued to fall. Delhi Capitals later highlighted this hundred as evidence of his record in ICC knockout matches. This profile records the innings and result without turning a team marketing description into a separate statistical claim.

2024 T20 World Cup final

Miller was part of the South Africa team that reached the men's T20 World Cup final in 2024, the country's first senior men's World Cup final. India won a close match in Barbados by seven runs. Miller was dismissed in the final over when Suryakumar Yadav completed a boundary catch.

A profile should preserve both the achievement and the result. Reaching the final was a major team milestone, but it was not a title. Miller's long international career had already included several knockout disappointments, and the 2024 run added a final appearance rather than an invented winners' medal.

2025 Champions Trophy semi-final hundred

Miller made exactly 100 in South Africa's 2025 Champions Trophy semi-final against New Zealand in Lahore. His century came from 67 balls and was completed late in a chase of 363. South Africa finished 312 for nine and lost by 50 runs.

ICC's report describes him as South Africa's top scorer and its media release records the 67-ball hundred. It was the fastest century in Champions Trophy history at that tournament. As with the 2023 semi-final, the score demonstrates individual performance under pressure without hiding that South Africa did not advance.

David Miller IPL career

Miller debuted in the IPL for Punjab in 2012 and remained with the franchise through 2019. His first IPL hundred, 101 not out against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2013, established the clean-striking reputation associated with his nickname. Rajasthan Royals used him in 2020 and 2021 before Gujarat Titans selected him for their inaugural season.

Through 24 May 2026, Miller's IPL record is 152 matches, 3,288 runs, an average of 35.74 and a strike rate of 139.50. He has one hundred, 14 fifties, 235 fours, 152 sixes and 87 catches. Those dated totals come from Delhi's current official player data rather than a static career estimate.

A career total can move after every appearance, so the checked date is part of the statistic. The ODI line is a completed snapshot through 5 March 2025 and should not be presented as a live counter. A later match belongs in the total only when its result and statistical scope are complete.

Gujarat Titans title in IPL 2022

Gujarat Titans won the IPL in their first season in 2022, and Miller produced one of his strongest league campaigns: 481 runs from 16 matches at an average of 68.71 and a strike rate above 142. In Qualifier 1 against Rajasthan Royals, he made an unbeaten 68 and hit three consecutive sixes in the final over to complete the chase.

The title gave Miller a major franchise trophy and showed what followed when a team offered him a stable role. He was not asked to attack every ball from arrival. With time to build, he could preserve wickets and still dominate the final overs. He remained with Gujarat through 2024 before moving to Lucknow for 2025.

Delhi Capitals move and IPL 2026 season

Lucknow Super Giants released Miller before the 2026 auction after a ₹7.5 crore 2025 contract. Delhi Capitals then bought him for his ₹2 crore base price. These are separate season-specific figures: the previous deduction is not his current Delhi salary, and neither figure is evidence of personal net worth.

Miller scored 211 runs from 11 matches for Delhi in 2026, averaging 35.17 at a strike rate of 154.01. Against Royal Challengers Bengaluru he hit 22 not out from 10 balls, including 6, 6 and 4 in the final over, to finish a chase with one ball remaining. His season high was 51, and he struck 14 sixes.

Paarl Royals, Southern Brave and franchise roles

Miller captains Paarl Royals in SA20. His checked SA20 record through 19 January 2026 is 41 matches and 897 runs at an average of 37.38. The official league roster and player page establish his current Paarl identity, while individual match records should flow into this profile through the licensed stats adapter.

The Hundred's official 2026 roster lists Miller as an overseas Southern Brave player on £110,000. That public contract-band figure can be stated with its season. It should not be converted into a claim about total annual earnings because endorsements, taxes, private agreements and other league payments are not fully disclosed.

Being named in more than one franchise squad does not imply that the competitions overlap or that Miller appeared in every scheduled match. A roster confirms team membership at a stated date; only a completed scorecard confirms an innings, score or appearance.

David Miller wife, family and net worth

David Miller married Camilla Harris in 2024. Public coverage identifies Harris as a polo player. This page uses the limited, publicly reported marital fact and does not speculate about private relationship history, children or other family details that the couple has not reliably disclosed.

No audited David Miller net-worth statement was found in the reviewed sources. Search pages often publish estimates without accounts, methodology or confirmation, so This profile does not repeat a number. The confirmed financial facts here are narrower: Delhi bought him for ₹2 crore for IPL 2026, Southern Brave listed him at £110,000 for The Hundred 2026, and Lucknow's released-player list records a ₹7.5 crore 2025 deduction.
