San Francisco Unicorns at a glance

San Francisco Unicorns are one of Major League Cricket's six founding franchises. The Bay Area club was launched in 2023 by co-owners Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayan and has used Oakland Coliseum as its home venue since the 2025 season.

Matt Short captained Cameron White's 2026 MLC side to first place in the ten-match league phase with six wins, four losses, 12 points and a +0.487 net run rate. Los Angeles Knight Riders won the Qualifier by seven runs, then Washington Freedom won a 476-run Challenger by seven runs, ending the Unicorns' title bid.

Short produced the competition's strongest two-skill team line: 513 runs at 64.12 and 17 wickets at 13.12. Lhuan-dre Pretorius added 465 runs at a 176.14 strike rate, while Brody Couch took 14 wickets. These are completed MLC totals and are not blended with the later GSL statistics.

The Unicorns then travelled to Guyana for the separate Global Super League with Hassan Khan as captain and a 14-player touring squad. They went 2–2 in the league phase, beat Desert Vipers by eight wickets in the Qualifier and lost a remarkable 85-to-79 final to Guyana Amazon Warriors by six runs.
