Team overview
Pokhara Avengers at a glance
Pokhara Avengers represent Pokhara and Gandaki Province in the Nepal Premier League. The club identifies Nepal T. Twenty Cricket Pvt. Ltd. as owner and has competed in both NPL seasons held so far.
The 2025 side recovered from two opening defeats to finish fifth with three wins, four losses, six points and NRR -0.179. Wins over Janakpur Bolts, Karnali Yaks and Chitwan Rhinos were not enough for the playoffs, but improved on the seventh-place 2024 debut.
Adam Rossington led the entire 2025 NPL with 323 runs in seven matches, including 108 not out against Karnali. Dhananjaya Lakshan joined late and took ten wickets in only three matches at 6.70, the highest Pokhara wicket total for the season.
Lakshan also scored 53 runs, making 53 runs and ten wickets the strongest documented two-skill return. James Neesham contributed 99 runs and five wickets; the page labels these as transparent team comparisons, not official all-rounder awards.
Season 3 preparation is tracked separately. Seven retained names, six completed domestic auction buys and Shakib Al Hasan's announced overseas signing are current. Ajantha Mendis replaces Rajiv Kumar as head coach, while no unannounced fixtures or incomplete final roster are presented as settled.
Squad-state reality
Why does Pokhara Avengers' current squad have 14 names when the club team page shows seven?
The club's team directory still displays the seven-player retained core. The current tracker adds six players bought in the 6 July domestic auction and Shakib Al Hasan, whose Season 3 overseas signing was reported on 29 July.
That makes 14 announced players, not a final squad. Retention, auction and overseas-announcement stages are kept distinct so an older website directory is not mistaken for the complete registration.
Myth versus reality
Did Pokhara Avengers' 201/2 win secure an NPL 2025 playoff place?
No. Adam Rossington's unbeaten 108 drove the 34-run win over Karnali Yaks and kept Pokhara's qualification chance alive, but it did not clinch a top-four finish.
A 13-run loss to Kathmandu Gorkhas in the next match ended that route. The final eight-wicket win over Chitwan Rhinos came after both teams had already been eliminated, leaving Pokhara fifth on six points.
Batting concentration
How dependent were Pokhara Avengers on Adam Rossington's runs?
Rossington scored 323 of Pokhara's 1,121 team runs across the seven listed innings, a calculated share of 28.8%. His 108 not out and 65 in the final two matches contributed 173 of those runs.
The concentration explains both the late surge and the season limit: Pokhara won those two Rossington-led matches, but four earlier defeats had already left too little margin for one dominant batter to repair.
Advanced sample check
Why is Dhananjaya Lakshan's ten-wicket season not a normal seven-match total?
Lakshan joined the campaign late and reached ten wickets in only three matches. His 4/16 against Kathmandu and three wickets against Chitwan supplied seven of the ten in the final two games.
The sample is small but not padded: ten is the completed Pokhara total from those three appearances, while Bipin Khatri's eight came across the broader campaign. Appearance count matters when comparing their bowling impact.
Home-ground distinction
Does Pokhara's cricket-ground project mean the Avengers played NPL home matches there?
No. The franchise handed over a new dugout at Pokhara Stadium Cricket Ground and uses the project to build a Gandaki identity, but all seven of its 2025 NPL matches were staged at TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
A represented city, a development project and a completed match venue are three different facts. Until a fixture is officially assigned to Pokhara, the ground should not be presented as a played NPL home venue.
Fifth in NPL 2025; Season 3 squad building underway
Completed 2025 record: fifth with three wins, four losses, six points and NRR -0.179. Fourteen Season 3 players were announced, but the fixture list and final squad were still pending.
