Team overview
MI London at a glance
MI London is the 2026 identity of the franchise previously known as Oval Invincibles. The women's and men's teams compete separately in The Hundred but share The Kia Oval, ownership, branding and the cricket operation.
Surrey County Cricket Club owns 51% and Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited, a wholly owned Reliance Industries subsidiary connected to the Mumbai Indians family, owns 49%. The partnership preserves Surrey's majority stake while bringing the franchise into the MI network.
MI London Women finished 1–6 with one tie and six points. The men finished 5–3 with 20 points but remained fourth behind two other 20-point teams on net run rate, so neither side reached the Eliminator. Chinelle Henry and Will Jacks led the runs; Hayley Matthews and Richard Gleeson led the wickets.
Qualification edge case
How did MI London Men finish 5–3 and still miss the Eliminator?
Five wins produced 20 points, but Manchester Super Giants and SunRisers Leeds also finished on 20. Only the top three progress, so net run rate separated the tied teams and MI London remained fourth.
The final two-run win over Birmingham Phoenix improved the record to 5–3 without creating a sixth win or extra league points. It was enough to draw level, not enough to overtake the teams ahead on the tiebreaker.
This is why record alone can be incomplete in a short league. Qualification depends on points first and the published tiebreak rules when teams finish level.
Women's result boundary
Does MI London Women's tie count as a win?
No. The 151-all match against London Spirit is recorded as a tie and contributes two points, but it does not increase the win column.
MI London Women therefore finished 1–6 with one tie across eight matches. Writing 2–6 would falsely convert the tied result into a victory, while 1–7 would falsely turn it into a defeat.
The distinction matters beyond wording: played, wins, losses, ties and points must reconcile, especially when the page also shows a combined franchise summary.
Myth versus reality
Did the Oval Invincibles titles disappear after the MI London rebrand?
No. MI London is the new identity of the same South London Hundred franchise. The women's 2021 and 2022 titles and the men's 2023, 2024 and 2025 titles remain in its sporting history.
The page still labels the side and season that won each trophy. Five franchise titles do not mean both teams won five each, and the 2026 name does not retroactively rename old scorecards.
The useful formulation is 'five titles as Oval Invincibles' alongside 'first season as MI London'. That preserves both continuity and historical accuracy.
Freshness lesson
Why did MI London's final leader list change after one match?
Chinelle Henry finished with 178 women's runs, moving five ahead of Melie Kerr's 173. Will Jacks closed the men's group stage on 263 runs, 45 ahead of Sam Curran.
Hayley Matthews remained the women's wicket leader with 10, while Richard Gleeson extended the men's lead to 14. Those values come from all eight scorecards for each side.
A seven-match snapshot can preserve the wrong leader even when every old number was accurate at its cutoff. Final-season labels require a final-scorecard refresh, not a date change alone.
Control and branding
Does the MI name mean Reliance owns all of MI London?
No. Surrey County Cricket Club holds 51%, while Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited holds 49%. The MI brand and cricket-network connection do not change the published majority split.
The franchise also retained The Kia Oval as its home and the five-season Invincibles record. Branding, venue continuity, ownership percentage and cricket leadership are separate layers.
Calling MI London wholly Reliance-owned would erase Surrey's majority position; calling it unchanged Oval Invincibles would ignore the current public identity and investment structure.

League and season history
MI London Women and Men have separate Hundred tables, match records and player statistics. The shared franchise succeeded Oval Invincibles in 2026, so its two women's titles and three consecutive men's titles remain part of the same team history rather than being erased by the new name.
