Team overview
London Spirit at a glance
London Spirit is the Lord's-based Hundred franchise, with separate women's and men's playing sides under one public identity. The team was launched in 2019 and began competition when The Hundred started in 2021.
The franchise entered a new ownership chapter before the 2026 season. Marylebone Cricket Club holds 51% and the Tech Titans investor group holds 49%. Mo Bobat became Director of Cricket, Heather Knight became Women's General Manager, Andy Flower took charge of the men and Jon Lewis became women's head coach.
Spirit Women finished 2–5 with one tie and 10 points; Spirit Men finished 3–5 with 12 points. Neither reached the Eliminator. Marizanne Kapp led the women's run aggregate with 187, Charlie Dean took 12 wickets, Liam Livingstone made 233 men's runs, and David Willey and Adam Milne shared the men's wicket lead with eight each.
Two-side structure
Do London Spirit Women and Men share one qualification record?
No. The sides share a name, owners, Lord's and a cricket department, but their eight-match records, points, net run rates and qualification routes are separate.
Spirit Women finished 2–5 with one tie for 10 points. Spirit Men finished 3–5 for 12 points. Adding them creates a useful 5–10–1 franchise summary, but that total cannot qualify either side for the Eliminator.
The combined display is therefore context, not a substitute league table. Any performance comparison must retain the side label and its own competition boundary.
Scorecard correction
Why were two London Spirit loss margins corrected?
The innings state decides a chase margin. Trent Rockets Men reached 160/6 after Spirit made 159/9, so the result is a four-wicket win, not a one-run win. SunRisers Leeds Women reached 142/5 after Spirit made 136/7, so that result is by five wickets, not six runs.
A run margin applies when the team batting first successfully defends its total. A wicket margin applies when the chasing side passes the target with wickets remaining.
The current official fixture feed uses the wicket margins and the page now follows it. This is a practical example of why prose labels must be reconciled with innings totals instead of copied blindly.
Myth versus reality
Does London Spirit's 2024 title make both sides champions?
No. London Spirit Women won the 2024 Hundred final; London Spirit Men did not. The trophy belongs to the shared franchise honours but remains explicitly a women's competition title.
The men's best finish remains the 2022 Eliminator. Combining the histories into a single undifferentiated 'London Spirit champions' claim would erase the side and season that earned the trophy.
The same rule applies to statistics: Marizanne Kapp's 187 runs and Liam Livingstone's 233 runs lead different competitions and are not competing positions in one leaderboard.
Final-round movement
How did the last two rounds change London Spirit's leaders?
The leaders changed after the 8 August snapshot. Marizanne Kapp finished with 187 women's runs, moving ahead of Nadine de Klerk's 165, while Charlie Dean reached 12 wickets to finish one ahead of Kapp.
For the men, Liam Livingstone closed on 233 runs, ahead of Dewald Brevis on 212 and Lhuan-dre Pretorius on 190. David Willey and Adam Milne finished level on eight wickets.
This shows why a live leader card needs a dated cutoff. A two-match update can change not only the totals but also the identity of the leader.
Ownership control
What does London Spirit's 51–49 ownership split mean?
Marylebone Cricket Club holds 51% and Tech Titans holds 49%. The outside investment is substantial, but it does not make Tech Titans the majority owner.
The operating model also includes role-specific cricket leadership: Mo Bobat as Director of Cricket and Heather Knight as Women's General Manager, alongside separate women's and men's head coaches.
Ownership percentage, brand identity and day-to-day cricket roles are related but not interchangeable. The page names each layer instead of compressing them into a vague claim that one investor 'owns the team'.
2026 combined franchise record
Combined display only: Women finished 2–5 with one tie and 10 points; Men finished 3–5 with 12 points. Neither side qualified, and their points remain separate for competition purposes.
