Dubai Capitals Squad, ILT20 Season 4 Results & Stats

Dubai Capitals finished third in the ILT20 Season 4 league stage before losing the Eliminator. This hub separates the ten-game table from the 11-match campaign, explains Dasun Shanaka's appointment and Mohammad Nabi's knockout captaincy, treats the 24-player squad as selection rather than appearance evidence, corrects the Dubai–Sharjah–Abu Dhabi venue split and keeps Season 5 at its confirmed date-window stage.

Team overview

Dubai Capitals at a glance

Dubai Capitals are GMR Group's UAE franchise in the International League T20. The club entered the competition in its inaugural 2023 season and reached the playoffs in each of its first four campaigns.

The Capitals won their maiden ILT20 title in Season 3, beating Desert Vipers by four wickets in the 2025 final. Their Season 4 title defence ended in the Eliminator: five league wins put them third on the table before Abu Dhabi Knight Riders won the knockout by 50 runs.

Dasun Shanaka was appointed captain for Season 4 and Hemang Badani remained head coach. Mohammad Nabi led the side in the Eliminator, an accurately recorded match-specific captaincy change rather than a change to the season appointment.

League table versus knockout record

Why did Dubai Capitals play 11 matches when the league table shows 10?

The league table covers ten round-robin games, where Dubai Capitals finished third with five wins, five losses and ten points. Qualification added one knockout match without changing that table record.

Abu Dhabi Knight Riders then beat the Capitals by 50 runs in the Eliminator. That result extended the completed campaign to 11 matches and changed the overall record to five wins and six losses.

The accurate summary is therefore third in the league stage and fourth after the playoff bracket. Combining the Eliminator with the league table would incorrectly show 11 games or six losses in a ten-match competition table.

Captaincy scope

Who actually captained Dubai Capitals in Season 4?

Dasun Shanaka was the appointed Season 4 captain and led the side during the league campaign. Mohammad Nabi captained the Capitals in the Eliminator and spoke as skipper in the official post-match report.

Those facts describe different scopes rather than a contradiction. A season appointment does not guarantee that the same player leads every match, and one knockout captaincy does not erase Shanaka's appointment.

The team card keeps Shanaka as season captain while the Eliminator context names Nabi. That is more precise than selecting one name and silently dropping the other.

Selection versus participation

Did all 24 Dubai Capitals squad members play in Season 4?

No. The ILT20 release is a final squad register divided into international, UAE and Associate categories; it is not an appearance list. Twelve-player match sheets and playing XIs determine who actually took part in each game.

For example, the 24-name release establishes eligibility and squad composition, while Jordan Cox's 11 matches and the leaders' aggregates come from completed statistics. The two evidence types answer different questions.

StumpScope therefore uses the full register for the squad grid but never turns selection into an implied appearance, innings or wicket total.

Shared-venue reality

Why do old schedules place two Dubai Capitals matches in Sharjah?

The original fixture assigned the 19 December Sharjah Warriorz match and 21 December Gulf Giants match to Sharjah. Weather conditions caused both to be moved before play: the first to Dubai and the second to Abu Dhabi.

Completed records therefore place eight of the Capitals' 11 games at Dubai International Stadium and three at Zayed Cricket Stadium. They played no Season 4 match in Sharjah despite the earlier schedule.

This is why a pre-tournament fixture and a final scorecard can show different venues without either being fabricated. For completed records, the played venue and dated relocation notice control.

Current-season boundary

What is confirmed for Dubai Capitals in ILT20 Season 5?

The official announcement confirms only the tournament window: 22 November to 20 December 2026. No complete Dubai Capitals opponent-by-opponent fixture or final Season 5 squad had been published by this check.

The club's current players page shows only part of its older roster and omits its bowler block in accessible output, so it is not reliable proof of a finished new-season squad. The 24-player grid remains labelled as Season 4.

A date window is useful current information, but it does not justify guessing opponents, venues, captain, coach or player retention. Those fields remain pending until an official team release appears.
