Team overview
Brisbane Heat Women at a glance
Brisbane Heat Women are one of the eight founding Women's Big Bash League clubs and are administered by Queensland Cricket. They share the Heat identity with the men's BBL side, but their players, fixtures, statistics and honours are recorded separately.
The Heat won consecutive championships in WBBL|04 and WBBL|05, then finished runners-up in WBBL|09 and WBBL|10. WBBL|11 was their first winless season: nine losses and one rain no-result left them eighth with one point.
WBBL|12 opens against Sydney Sixers at Allan Border Field on 30 October 2026. Mark Sorell remains head coach. Jess Jonassen will play but stepped down as captain, and no replacement captain had been announced by 12 August 2026.
Partial roster boundary
Why does the Brisbane Heat Women WBBL|12 tracker list only eight players?
Eight women appear in Brisbane Heat's current official directory at this check. The club's July fixture release said it expected to complete the squad later, so the directory is a confirmed core rather than a final roster.
Jess Jonassen is included because the club explicitly confirmed she will keep playing after leaving the captaincy. Former WBBL|11 players are not carried forward merely because they appeared last season.
Overseas recruits, replacements and remaining domestic places will require dated club or competition announcements. A directory entry confirms current team status, not a WBBL|12 appearance.
Winless does not mean ten defeats
Did Brisbane Heat Women lose all ten WBBL|11 matches?
No. Brisbane lost nine matches and had one no-result when rain prevented any play against Sydney Sixers at Adelaide Oval. They finished eighth with one point and no wins.
A no-result is not converted into a loss simply because the season was winless. The accurate record is 0–9 with one no-result, not 0–10.
The distinction keeps the points table, result count and score list aligned: ten scheduled fixtures, nine completed defeats and one abandoned match.
Myth versus reality
Was every WBBL|11 defeat one-sided?
No, but the close moments did not change the winless outcome. Brisbane made a season-high 169/5 against Adelaide Strikers, who completed the chase from the final ball after the scores were level.
That match shows the Heat were not uniformly uncompetitive; it does not erase the broader pattern of nine losses. Other defeats included margins of 41 runs, 23 runs twice and several six- or seven-wicket chases.
The useful conclusion is narrower than either extreme: Brisbane produced isolated competitive passages, but not a complete winning performance across the season.
Captaincy succession
Does Georgia Redmayne automatically replace Jess Jonassen as Heat captain?
No. Georgia Redmayne continued as Queensland Fire captain for the remainder of the WNCL season after Jess Jonassen stepped down, but that announcement did not appoint her Brisbane Heat captain for WBBL|12.
Queensland Cricket named Redmayne among several experienced or emerging leaders, alongside Charli Knott, Georgia Voll, Sianna Ginger and Lucy Hamilton. It did not announce a WBBL successor.
The Heat captaincy therefore remains open until a team-specific appointment is published. Leadership in Queensland's 50-over side cannot be silently transferred to the WBBL.
Neutral home classification
How can Brisbane Heat have a home match in Adelaide?
The WBBL|12 draw classifies Brisbane versus Perth Scorchers on 29 November as a Heat home match, but schedules it at Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide. The other four Heat home fixtures are at Allan Border Field.
Home status identifies the designated host, not necessarily a match inside Queensland. WBBL hub scheduling can place a club's administrative home fixture at a neutral ground.
The same principle also applies to away labels: Adelaide Strikers host Brisbane at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney on 5 November. The published team order and venue must both be preserved.
Ten-match fixture list published
The complete WBBL|12 fixture list is published. The official directory currently contains eight women, while the captaincy and remaining squad places are still open; this is a current tracker rather than a falsely labelled final roster.

Brisbane Heat Women WBBL|12 squad tracker
The official Heat directory currently lists these eight women's players. Jess Jonassen has confirmed she will play WBBL|12 but has stepped down as captain; the club has not announced her successor or labelled this a final squad, so unconfirmed WBBL|11 players are not carried forward.
