Auckland Hearts Team: Squad, Results, Stats & Schedule

Auckland Hearts are Auckland Cricket's premier women's representative team. Auckland first played an official women's representative match in January 1935 and entered the inaugural Hallyburton Johnstone competition in 1935/36; the HEARTS identity arrived around the late 1990s.

The HEARTS placed third in the 2025/26 Women's Super Smash league phase with five wins, four losses, one no-result and 25 points. They beat Northern Brave by eight wickets in the Elimination Final before Wellington Blaze won the Grand Final by five wickets.

Brooke Halliday led Auckland with 306 runs, the highest aggregate in the tournament. Molly Penfold took 17 wickets, also a competition-leading total, while captain Maddy Green supplied 285 runs and nine wickets.

No. The 20-name directory records the completed 2025/26 pool: 13 Auckland domestic contractees and seven separately contracted WHITE FERNS.

For 2026/27, Izzy Gaze, Maddy Green, Brooke Halliday, Bree Illing, Fran Jonas and Molly Penfold hold WHITE FERNS central contracts. Lauren Down retired in February, and Auckland's new domestic contract list was still pending at this update.

Five wins supplied 20 points and the Boxing Day no-result added two. Three bonus points completed the total: one in the 80-run Canterbury win, one despite the four-wicket loss to Otago, and one in the final-round DLS win over Central.

The complete calculation is 20 + 2 + 3 = 25. The Otago scorecard is the unusual part: it explicitly awarded one bonus point to both teams, so Auckland received a table point from a defeat.

This women-only bonus structure cannot be copied to the men's table. The parallel Aces competition used four points for a win and had no bonus column.

Auckland and Central each finished with five wins, four losses, three bonus points and 25 total points. They also split their two head-to-head matches, with one win each.

That left net run rate to separate them under the published table order. Auckland's +0.316 ranked above Central's -0.281, placing the Hearts third and the Hinds fourth.

The result is a useful warning against reconstructing a table from win count alone. Points, head-to-head and then net run rate all mattered in this tie.

Third place sent Auckland into the Elimination Final against second-placed Northern Districts on 30 January. Maddy Green took 4/21 and Prue Catton made an unbeaten 56 as the Hearts chased 139 with two wickets down.

The Grand Final followed at the same Hagley Oval venue on 31 January. Auckland made 146/5, but Wellington reached 149/5 with one ball remaining despite Molly Penfold's 2/14.

The two scorecards show the compressed finals demand: Auckland had to win a full 20-over eliminator and return the next day, while top qualifier Wellington entered directly into the title match.

Auckland reached 123/2 in 13.5 overs, so the official result was an eight-wicket DLS win with a bonus point. The 123 and 125 innings totals do not imply a two-run defeat because the revised target governs the chase.

This is why a rain-affected score line needs its target and overs context. Comparing the raw totals alone produces the wrong winner.
