Team overview
Antigua & Barbuda Falcons at a glance
Antigua & Barbuda Falcons is a men's Twenty20 franchise representing Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean Premier League. The team entered the CPL in 2024 and is owned and managed by Worldwide Sports Enterprise, LLC, whose founder Kris Persaud is identified by the franchise as owner.
Fabian Allen captained the Falcons in their CPL 2026 opener, while Paul Nixon remains the latest head coach appointed by the franchise. The 20-player opening-match roster combines Caribbean players including Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis and Jayden Seales with overseas additions such as Moeen Ali, Shadab Khan and Kusal Perera.
The Falcons began CPL 2026 with a last-ball two-wicket win over Jamaica Kingsmen, then lost to St Lucia Kings by four runs after making 183/7 in pursuit of 188. Tajinder Singh led with 83 runs across the two matches and Alzarri Joseph took six wickets; these remain an early-season snapshot, not projected final totals.
Why does the Falcons roster show 20 players when only 16 were listed for the second match?
The 20-player list is the wider opening-match roster, while a match sheet separates the selected XI and available bench for that fixture. The 9 August scorecard listed 11 starters and five reserves, so absence from that sheet does not by itself prove release from the season squad.
This matters for overseas names announced before the season. The page keeps roster membership and actual appearances separate instead of turning one match-day omission into an unsupported contract or availability claim.
Are the Falcons a continuation of the Antigua Hawksbills or Jamaica Tallawahs?
No. The Falcons entered the CPL as a new Antigua and Barbuda franchise in 2024. Older Hawksbills results and the former Jamaica Tallawahs record belong to different team identities and are not added to the Falcons' history.
A new franchise can occupy a market previously used by another team without inheriting that team's titles, player record or season totals. This page starts its statistical timeline in 2024.
What changed between the Falcons' last-ball win and four-run loss?
Both matches reached the final over, but the chase outcomes reversed. Antigua reached 168/8 from the last ball against Jamaica; two days later they finished 183/7, four short of St Lucia's 187/8.
The second chase began much faster—65 in the powerplay—and Evin Lewis made 48 from 24, but wickets and slower middle-order scoring left too much for the finish. Fabian Allen ended unbeaten on 28, while the final wicket fell from the last delivery.
Why had Antigua played no home match after two CPL 2026 games?
The CPL opened its season block at Arnos Vale in Saint Vincent, where both Falcons matches through 9 August were staged. Antigua's four-match home run at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium begins on 20 August.
Representing Antigua does not make a neutral or event-block fixture a home game. The schedule labels the later North Sound run as the franchise's actual home leg.
How did Alzarri Joseph lead the attack despite two very different match totals?
Alzarri took 3/34 in the win and 3/32 in the loss, giving him six wickets from eight overs. His strike role remained productive even as the opposition total rose from 167/7 to 187/8.
The advanced takeaway is that individual wicket output and team control are not identical measures. Antigua still conceded 20 more runs in Match 2 because the other overs and batting conditions changed; Alzarri's six-wicket aggregate should not be presented as proof that the whole attack improved.
