Team overview
Adelaide Strikers Women at a glance
Adelaide Strikers Women are one of the eight founding Women's Big Bash League teams. They first played in December 2015 and share the Strikers name and South Australian administration with the men's BBL team, while retaining separate players, results and honours.
The women reached four finals in five seasons from WBBL|05 to WBBL|09: runners-up in WBBL|05 and WBBL|07, then champions in WBBL|08 and WBBL|09. Their WBBL|11 campaign ended sixth with three wins, four losses, three no-results and nine points.
WBBL|12 begins at Karen Rolton Oval on 31 October 2026. Five fixtures are classified as home matches, including the interstate Brisbane Heat game at Drummoyne Oval and the Adelaide Oval night match against Melbourne Renegades.
Retention versus final selection
Is the eight-player WBBL|12 list a complete Strikers squad?
No. The club identified these eight players as its retained core before the Player Movement Window, not as the final WBBL|12 roster.
The list confirms Tahlia McGrath, Laura Wolvaardt, Bridget Patterson, Ellie Johnston, Eleanor Larosa, Darcie Brown, Megan Schutt and Amanda-Jade Wellington. It does not settle the remaining domestic places, overseas recruitment or match-day availability.
That distinction prevents WBBL|11 players from being silently carried forward. The directory will expand only when the club or competition publishes further signings.
Points and tiebreak arithmetic
How did three wins become nine points and sixth place?
Three wins earned six points and three no-results added one point each. The complete calculation is 6 + 3 = 9.
Sydney Thunder also finished on nine points despite winning four matches, because Thunder had only one no-result and five losses. Adelaide ranked sixth above Thunder on net run rate: +0.077 against -0.124.
The comparison shows why win count alone does not reproduce the table. Match points establish the tie first, then net run rate separates teams on equal totals.
Three different no-results
Why were the Strikers' three no-results not the same?
Against Melbourne Stars, Adelaide reached 32/1 after 4.2 overs of the chase. Against Sydney Thunder, Thunder reached 43/0 after 2.5 overs of a five-over chase. Neither second innings reached the five-over minimum required for a result.
The Hobart match was different. Adelaide completed 167/4, but an errant ball became lodged under a roller during the interval and materially changed the pitch, so the Hurricanes did not begin their chase.
All three matches returned one table point to Adelaide, but the first two failed the minimum-overs threshold while the third was abandoned because the two teams could no longer receive comparable pitch conditions.
DLS result correction
Was the first Perth defeat an eight-wicket loss?
No. Adelaide were dismissed for 112 in 17.4 overs, and Perth reached 55/2 after 9.1 overs before rain ended play. The official result was a nine-run Perth win under the DLS method.
An eight-wicket margin would describe Perth reaching an ordinary target with two wickets lost. Here, DLS compared 55/2 with the rain-adjusted par score at the stoppage, so the margin was runs rather than wickets.
This is why the innings figures cannot determine the result label by themselves. The interruption time and DLS par score control the official margin.
Myth versus finals reality
Would one more run against Sydney Sixers have guaranteed finals?
Not by itself. Adelaide finished on 172/7 chasing 174, so one additional run would have levelled the main-innings scores rather than produced a win.
The WBBL|11 conditions required a Super Over after a tie. Adelaide still needed to win that tiebreak to turn the virtual quarter-final into two match points; a tied Super Over in a home-and-away match would instead leave the match tied and split the points.
The club's one-run framing captures how close the chase came, but the competition pathway contained another step. A level score was a route to a Super Over, not an automatic finals berth.

The full WBBL|12 home-and-away schedule is published. Five fixtures are officially home games even though one is staged at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney. Eight retained players are confirmed; overseas additions and the rest of the roster remain open.
