Who can apply for the committee?
Applicants must be former players with at least 25 first-class matches and must have been retired for a minimum of five years. The BCCI also says a person who has already served on any BCCI Cricket Committee for a cumulative five years is not eligible. Those conditions narrow the field to experienced former players who remain within the board’s committee-tenure rules.
What will the Junior Cricket Committee do?
The committee’s remit reaches beyond naming junior squads. Its members select age-group teams up to Under-22 for coaching camps and fixtures in India and overseas, scout players, assess performance and help choose coaches and support staff. The published responsibilities also include appointing captains across formats, overseeing junior tournaments and tours, and supporting education about drugs, betting and match-fixing.
What happens after applications close?
For India’s development pathway, the five appointments will influence how junior talent is identified, prepared and moved toward higher levels. The current news is the opening of applications, not the selection of the committee. StumpScope will update this report if the BCCI publishes the shortlist, interview outcome or final appointments after the 5 September deadline.
